The Entrance is a seaside holiday destination located on the scenic Central Coast of NSW. The Entrance SPD has a population of approximately 26,800 and is centrally located between the two major cities of Newcastle and Sydney linked by the M1 Motorway.

The Entrance is easliy accessible by public transport and is ideal for short stays, weekend getaways, family holidays and hosts many major festivals and events.

In 1996, The Entrance Town Centre Management built the feeding platform known as Pelican Plaza. They, in conjunction with the many sponsors, have made it possible to feed the pelicans whole fresh fish 365 days a year and make it the spectacle it is today.

One of the main objectives of the pelican feed is to keep an eye on the pelican's medical conditions as many have hooks and lines tangled up in their gullets, wings and other parts of their body. The feed is a chance for the co-ordinator and volunteers to assess their well being.

The Entrance has now been internationally recognised as “The Pelican Capital of Australia” and we want you to be part of it. So when you visit us at The Entrance be sure to wander down to the Pelican Plaza on the foreshore for an experience you will treasure.
