Lakes Entrance

For salmon and tailor try the Lake Bunga beach, using pilchards and squid. Head offshore to Six Mile Reef for snapper and morwong. Leatherjacket have been caught near Bullock Island and trevally are taking shrimp, peeled prawn, pippies and fresh squid.

Lake Tyers

In the lake good size bream are taking prawn and flathead are being caught in the deep water. There have also been some catches of trevally in the main lake. Perch are biting from Devils Hole through to Nowa Nowa taking prawn, lures and worm.

Mitchell River

Small perch are still being caught under and upstream of the highway bridge on soft plastics. Downstream from the bridge to Grassy Banks and The Cut, bream are taking shrimp, spider crab and prawns. There have also been reports of trout near the Wuk Wuk bridge.

Tambo River

Bream are plentiful upstream with good catches on shrimp and prawn. Try the Sardine Track and the Punt Road boat ramp.


Bream are taking cut crab and lures from the boat ramp up to the Car Bodies, including Tyres and the winery.


Bream are still being caught in the Tambo on prawn. There have also been catches of whiting near Nungurner.

There have been good catches of perch in the estuary. Bream are biting in the Brodribb River. Offshore there are plenty of gummy and some flathead. Good catches of salmon and tailor on the beaches.

Bemm River

Bream are being caught in the lake on sandworm. On the beach mullet are being caught on blue bait.

Omeo High Country

Good size brown trout are being caught in the Mitta on lures. There are still catches in Livingstone Creek but they are small in size.
