A beautiful Sapphire Coast town, Bermagui is famous for deep-sea game fishing. With the continental shelf only 20 km offshore, discover the thrill of game fishing in the deep blue waters for black marlin and yellowfin tuna on fishing tours that depart from Bermagui Harbour.

The pretty harbour is home to Bermagui Fishermen’s Wharf, where you’ll find delicious takeaway fish and chips and restaurants serving locally caught seafood, a wine bar and gift shops. Every Thursday afternoon browse local produce at the growers market on the harbour foreshore.

Places to stay in this beautiful region suit a range of budgets, including holiday homes, motels, glamping and lakeside camping. Check out the events calendar for festivals and shows, such as Bermagui Seaside Fair and Cobargo Folk Festival, which attracts international performers.

Natural attractions abound around Bermagui, from Cuttagee Beach and Mimosa Rocks National Park to Blue Pool and Camel Rock. Enjoy coastal walks with breathtaking views. Wallaga Lake is one of the largest coastal waterways in NSW and holds special significance for local Aboriginal people.

There are caravan and camping sites around the lake, a tranquil area popular for fishing, boating, swimming and bushwalking. Nearby is the fascinating Montreal Goldfield, a well-preserved example of alluvial diggings from the 1880s. A short drive inland is Cobargo, a delightful village with gift shops of local artisans’ works, Laneway Markets every Saturday and the Cobargo Show, first held in 1889.

From Sydney, the drive to Bermagui along the spectacular NSW South Coast is a little over five hours. The drive from Canberra is 3h 20min. You can also fly from Sydney or Melbourne to Merimbula Airport and rent a car for the 70 minutes’ drive to Bermagui, just north of Mimosa Wines.
